MeteorologicalAerodromeForecast

MeteorologicalAerodromeForecast

Meteorological conditions forecast at an aerodrome. This class is also related but not identical to MeteorologicalAerodromeTrendForecast, which is reported on a METAR/SPECI - conditions reported in trend forecasts in METAR/SPECI differ from forecast groups in a TAF. When no clouds of operational significance or no weather of operational significance is predicted, the nothingOfOperationalSignificance nilReason should be used for the cloud or presentWeather association. Note that the TAC representations for FM", "TL", and "AT" are represented by the phenomenonTime on the change forecast (MeteorologicalAerodromeForecast): FM and TL - a phenomenonTime with a TimePeriod (start is FM and end is TL) TL - a phenomenonTime with a TimePeriod (start is beginning of forecast validity and end is TL) FM - a phenomenonTime with a TimePeriod (start is FM and end is end of forecast validity) AT - a phenomenonTime with a TimeInstant"

Properties Definition Type
changeIndicator The type of change being reported (FROM, BECOMING, TEMPORARY, etc.). A change indicator is required for all MeteorologicalAerodromeForecasts excepting reported base conditions. AerodromeForecastChangeIndicator
cloud Forecast of cloud. AerodromeCloudForecast
cloudAndVisibilityOK When true, indicates that the following conditions occur simultaneously at the time of forecast (also know as CAVOK"): a) visibility, 10km or more, and the lowest visibility is not reported b) no cloud of operational significance c) no weather of significance to aviation Information on visibility, runway visual range, present weather and cloud amount, cloud type and height of cloud base shall not be reported. See ICAO Annex 3 / WMO No. 49-2 Section 2.2." Boolean
phenomenonTime The time at which the reported phenomena or change of phenomena occur. For change indicators of FROM, PROB 30/40, and TEMPO this is the period of time at which reported meteorological conditions occur. For BECOMING conditions this represents the time over which conditions are changing. This is equivalent to how time information is reported in the TAC codes TM_Period
prevailingVisibility The prevailing horizontal visibility, mandatory except when ceiling and visibility is reported as OK Prevailing horizontal visibility shall be reported in meters (m")." Distance
prevailingVisibilityOperator The reported relational operator for the prevailing horizontal visibility. When reported, this operator is reported in conjunction with prevailing visibility. To report a prevailing visibility of at least 10000 meters, prevailing visibility is reported as 10000 meters and the operator is reported as above". When no operator is reported, prevailing visibility represents an exact value with identical semantics to other measured quantities" RelationalOperator

changeIndicator

MeteorologicalAerodromeForecast.changeIndicator

The type of change being reported (FROM, BECOMING, TEMPORARY, etc.). A change indicator is required for all MeteorologicalAerodromeForecasts excepting reported base conditions.

Semantic Correspondence
AIRM Concept Definition
WeatherCondition.changeIndicator Indication about the type of meteorological conditions changes.

cloud

MeteorologicalAerodromeForecast.cloud

Forecast of cloud.

Semantic Correspondence
AIRM Concept Definition
WeatherCondition.phenomenon The phenomenon of relevance for the weather condition.
Additional trace Cloud A hydrometeor consisting of minute particles of liquid water or ice, or of both, suspended in the free air and usually not touching the ground. It may also include larger particles of liquid water or ice and non-aqueous liquid or solid particles such as those present in fumes, smoke and dust.

cloudAndVisibilityOK

MeteorologicalAerodromeForecast.cloudAndVisibilityOK

When true, indicates that the following conditions occur simultaneously at the time of forecast (also know as CAVOK"): a) visibility, 10km or more, and the lowest visibility is not reported b) no cloud of operational significance c) no weather of significance to aviation Information on visibility, runway visual range, present weather and cloud amount, cloud type and height of cloud base shall not be reported. See ICAO Annex 3 / WMO No. 49-2 Section 2.2."

Semantic Correspondence
AIRM Concept Definition
AerodromeCondition.cavok Visibility, cloud and present weather better than prescribed values or conditions.

phenomenonTime

MeteorologicalAerodromeForecast.phenomenonTime

The time at which the reported phenomena or change of phenomena occur. For change indicators of FROM, PROB 30/40, and TEMPO this is the period of time at which reported meteorological conditions occur. For BECOMING conditions this represents the time over which conditions are changing. This is equivalent to how time information is reported in the TAC codes

Semantic Correspondence
AIRM Concept Definition
Change request A change request is required on the AIRM.

prevailingVisibility

MeteorologicalAerodromeForecast.prevailingVisibility

The prevailing horizontal visibility, mandatory except when ceiling and visibility is reported as OK Prevailing horizontal visibility shall be reported in meters (m")."

Semantic Correspondence
AIRM Concept Definition
HorizontalVisibility.prevailingVisibility The greatest visibility value, observed in accordance with the definition of visibility", which is reached within at least half the horizon circle or within at least half of the surface of the aerodrome. These areas could comprise contiguous or non-contiguous sectors."

prevailingVisibilityOperator

MeteorologicalAerodromeForecast.prevailingVisibilityOperator

The reported relational operator for the prevailing horizontal visibility. When reported, this operator is reported in conjunction with prevailing visibility. To report a prevailing visibility of at least 10000 meters, prevailing visibility is reported as 10000 meters and the operator is reported as above". When no operator is reported, prevailing visibility represents an exact value with identical semantics to other measured quantities"

Semantic Correspondence
AIRM Concept Definition
RunwayVisualRange.rvrValueInterpretation The relational operator that can be used for interpreting the RVR value, for instance in order to express a mean RVR of at least 2000 meters (ABOVE 2000 meters).

surfaceWind

MeteorologicalAerodromeForecast.surfaceWind

Forecast of surface wind.

Semantic Correspondence
AIRM Concept Definition
WeatherCondition.phenomenon The phenomenon of relevance for the weather condition.
Additional trace Wind Air motion relative to the Earth's surface. Unless otherwise specified, only the horizontal component is considered.
