Liquid droplets with diameters greater than 0.05 mm (50 microns) at temperatures less than 0�C, i.e., freezing rain or freezing drizzle. Due to their relatively large size and high mass, SLD are particularly hazardous to aircraft, since they can impact the aircraft surfaces outside the ice-protected regions.
